I do not accept the dualism that is reflected in this thought of being a slave to my mind.
Where is the 'I' in the statement 'you are a slave to your own mind'? Why does my mind then not do good rather than evil as is projected here? What is good? You say following your own desires is not good, why? Maybe the evil is to try to form the mind into something it is not.
Whatever the case, I am my mind, I am my body, I am my soul. I don't have these things (dualism), I am these things. I have been forgiven in Christ Jesus and can now do the good I want. This gives you freedom to act and be yourself. It assumes the you are created in the image of God, 'And it was very good'.
