Seven People Cutting Stones
पत्थर काटते सात लोग - रोजर वाल्श द्वारा
कई हफ़्तों से अजीब सी आवाजें आ रही थी, पहाड़ों से होती हुई पडोसी घाटी से। गांव में बहुत चर्चा थी की ये आवाजें क्या हो सकती हैं, पर कोई इन्हें समझ नहीं पा रहा था। गाँव के बुजुर्गों ने भी ऐसी आवाजें पहले कभी नहीं सुनी थी। अंत में गाँव से एक युवान को चुना गया पहाड़ के पार जाके देखने के लिए की आखिर हो क्या रहा है।
दो दिनों की चढ़ाई के बाद युवान पहाड़ की चोटी पर पहुँच के देखता है के निचे घाटी में लोगों का समूह काम कर रहा है। जैसे जैसे वह नज़दीक आता गया उसने लोगों की कतार देखी, हर एक के सामने एक शिला रक्खी हुई थी जिसे वे तराश रहे थे।
आख़िरकार घाटी की सतह तक पहुँच कर वह एक युवान के पास गया जो की कतार के अंत में खड़ा था और उससे पूछा, "तुम क्या कर रहे हो?"
उकताए हुए उस युवक ने कहा, "हुह, मै मेरे काम का समय पूरा होने तक समय काट रहा हूँ।"
हैरान, गाँव का युवक कतार में अगले व्यक्ति की और बढ़ा जो की एक युवान महिला थीं, और पूछा, " माफ़ कीजियेगा, पर आप क्या कर रही हैं?"
" मै अपने परिवार के लिए आजीविका अर्जित कर रही हूँ," महिला ने पर्तिउत्तर दिया।
अपना सर खुजलाता गाँव का युवक तीसरे व्यक्ति की और आगे बढ़ा और उसने फिर से पूछा, " आप क्या कर रहे हैं?"
" मै एक ख़ूबसूरत प्रतिमा बना रहा हूँ," उत्तर आया। अगले व्यक्ति की और बढते हुए युवक ने अपना प्रशन दोहराया।
" मै एक बड़ा गिरजाघर बनाने में मदद कर रहा हूँ," उत्तर आया।
उत्साह पूर्वक यवक ने कहा, " आह! मुझे लगता है अब मुझे कुछ समझ आ रहा है।"
कतार में खड़ी अगली महिला के पास जाके युवक के पूछा, " और आप क्या कर रही हैं?"
" इस बड़े गिरजाघर को बनाने में मदद करके मै इस शहेर के लोगों और उनकी आनेवाली पीढ़ियों की मदद कर रही हूँ।
"अद्भुत," विस्मित होकर युवक ने कहा। " और आप, महोदय? उसने महिला के बगल खड़े पुरुष को संबोधित किया।
" मै इस बड़े गिरजाघर को बनाने में मदद कर रहा हूँ ताके उन सभी की सेवा कर सकूँ जो इसका उपयोग करेंगे और इस प्रक्रिया में अपने आप को जागृत कर सकूँ। मै दूसरों की सेवा द्वारा अपने लिए मोक्ष प्राप्त करना चाहता हूँ।"
अंत में युवक आखरी व्यक्ति की और मुड़ा जोकि शिला पे काम कर रहे थे, एक बूढ़े लेकिन जिवंत व्यक्ति जिनकी आँखों में चमक और चेहरे पे सतत स्मित रहेता था। "और आप क्या कर रहे हैं?" युवक ने पूछा।
"मै" हँसते हुए बुजुर्ग ने उत्तर दिया, " और करना?" बुजुर्ग गरजते हुए हसने लगे। " ये अहंकार कई वर्षों पहले इश्वर में विलीन हो गया है। कुछ ' करने ' के लिए ' मै ' बचा ही नहीं है। इश्वर इस शरीर के माध्यम से काम करता है, लोगों की मदद करने के लिए, उनको जगाने के लिए और उनको अपनी ओर आकर्षित करने के लिए।"

i see steps of enlightenment ..as we each pass thru these "stones" on our journey to god .. thru one or many lifetimes of service.. thank you Nipun for making sure this arrived in my inbox as sometimes i don't get the chance to come to the sites daily ..HUGS!

Depending on the task, our energy, our level of expertise, our passion, all seven "states of being" can be found in all of us. Because we are people (in our human condition), we all have to make time to . . . "kill time" . . . support our families . . . to create (be creative) . . . to help build something beautiful . . . to be part of "the bigger picture" (leaving a legacy) . . . to awaken others (in doing so, awaken self) . . . and to be and to work "One with God" (experiencing His power, influence and pull . . . by the power of His Holy Spirit).
We do these things for "the health and wellness of it" (physical, emotional and Spiritual).

This passage for me highlights how the very same situation/ action/ event can be interpreted , perceived, experienced so differently by each person. We have the ability to chose how we want to 'see' things and how we want to 'be' in each situation. Thinking about how our simple actions can help others, and taking part in these activities with this consciousness in mind, will inevitably bring a satisfaction and fulfillment to activities that before may have just appeared to be a 'means to an end'.
