Einstein spent a lifetime trying to explain the universe .... while at the same time struggling with religion and claiming to be atheist. Like most people he wanted 'meaning' to it all. Maybe the trick is not to need meaning .... The universe just 'is' and we need to 'fit' into it rather than 'fight' it all the time.
The question is not 'is the universe friendly' .... the question is, 'Are we friendly'.

He never claimed to be an atheist: he was just more intuitive about the universe and its truths. I feel like if he wrote down his personal beliefs, many people would agree but he believed, and one of the biggest reasons why I'm a big fan of his, that everyone has the right to their own free will and beliefs. The problem with the universe is that it's not in control of itself anymore: it's in control by the people, and you can chose to fit in and fall in line like so many find it so easy to do, but there's courage and honor in fighting for yourself and others. like he is honestly fascinating
