Yes, it could well be that Jesus was influenced by Indian spiritual traditions, and it also seems equally likely that he may have gained all he needed from Hebrew mystical traditions. Or, like many mystics, he may have been born destined to know the heart and soul of love.
And also, that He is the Son of God may have something to do with how he meditated/prayed. He was intimately connected with the Father... He is one with the Father..
And so are each of us, Meg. Each of us is a child of God, each of us is intimately connected with God, each of us is one with God, and that has a lot to do with how we meditate and pray, especially as we realize it.

Oh no, no.. we are not "one with God" in the same sense as Jesus is. Jesus Is God. We are made in the image of God. Yes, we each are a child of God and should be intimately connected with Him but that depends directly on our relationship with Him.
Oh yes, yes... we are one with God in the same sense as Jesus is. That's the point. That was Jesus' point.
