Having recently undertaken the course of 10-day Vipassana meditation by S.N. Goenka, I can relate to the words of wisdom about the real conclusion of the practice. Since my initial meditation practice was for all the wrong reasons - to uplift just my own mental abilities - Vipassana opened the door to the abilities of the self without the mind. Observing reality as it is, is the first step towards compassion, as it liberates the mind from defilements towards the self. Practicing this process daily, my hope is I can experience that sense of compassion towards everybody.
