As a health care worker, the silence i experienced during the pandemic was deafening at times. I worked in a large level I trauma hospital in south west virginia. So life did not slow down at worked but changed daily. The silence i experienced was being alone after work. The isolation was overwhelming at times. I got to listen to myself and my needs in a new way. After 25 years as a hospital chaplain, i realized it was time to leave and had the courage to start a new job as a hospice chaplain. The change in jobs has been amazing.
