Prahlad Singh Tipanya is a name that needs little introduction as one of the most compelling folk voices of Kabir in India today. He sings in the Malwi folk style from Madhya Pradesh and has an incomparable ability to sing and explain the words of Kabir, making them easily accessible to the listener. He has been felicitated with many national awards, including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the Padmashree.

When Prahladji is'nt travelling to spread the message of peace and oneness through singing the poems of the mystic saints, he can be found in his village, where he has been a teacher in a government school for over 40 years. Every year for the last 20 years, his family hosts the Malwa Kabir Yatra where over 20,000 people gather to listen to wisdom songs by some of the best contemporary musicians. This event is run in the spirit of gift, completely funded by his family's own resources as well voluntary contributions from well wishers.

When asked how the experience has been of running this massive yatra every year, he says "It is a miracle how it happens. When we started the yatra, we bought hundreds of sacks of grain to feed the people. And at the end of the yatra, we had more sacks then we started with. People would contribute grains and money, often anonymously. When we are doing His work, he takes care that there is abundance. Come once for the yatra, and you can see the magic with your own eyes."

१९५४ में लुनियाखेड़ी नामक एक छोटे से गांव में, आत्माराम और सम्पतबाई के घर, एक दरिद्र परिवार में  प्रह्लाद टिपानिया का जन्म हुआ। उनका गाँव जातिवाद से दंशित था - उनका परिवार पिछड़ी जाती का, निरक्षर और गरीब। बालक प्रह्लाद ने गाँव भर में कुँए खोदकर पैसे कमाए - आगे चलकर दरिद्रता के बावजूद प्रह्लादजी MA के स्नातक हुए और सरकारी शाला में शिक्षक बने।  १९७८ में, २४ वर्ष की आयु में एक सत्संग समारम्भ में बज रहे एक तम्बूरे की आवाज़ उनके ह्रदय के तार में झंकार कर गयी और कबीरबानी की दुनिया में उनके प्रवेश के का द्वार बन गयी।

देश के अलग अलग प्रांतो में ६०० सालों से कबीर के शब्द केवल श्रोत्रिय परंपरा से जीवित है। पिछले तीन-चार दशकों के दौरान प्रह्लादजी उस श्रृंखला के, उस प्रवाह का एक अभिन्न अंग बन गए। परिवार में संगीत की कोई परंपरा नहीं है, और न ही प्रह्लादजी ने संगीत की तालीम ली है। तथापि मालवा के लोकसंगीत को आकाशवाणी, दूरदर्शन, इंटरनेट तथा देश विदेश के कार्यक्रमों से लोगों को परिचित करानेवाले प्रह्लाद जी को भारत सरकार तथा सामाजिक संस्थानों ने कई अवॉर्ड देकर नवाजा है। कबीरवाणी को वे केवल गाते ही नहीं हैं पर साधारण शब्दों में समजाते भी है - उनकी यह सहज शैली गहन निर्गुणी भजनो को भी लोकभोग्य बना देती है। १९९७ में प्रह्लादजी ने "कबीर स्मारक सेवा शोध संसथान" की स्थापना की। प्रह्लादजी गायक ही नहीं एक संघप्रिय व्यक्तित्व है - बरसों से वार्षिक "मालवा यात्रा" में भारतभर से कबीर को गानेवाले लोकगायक अविरत एकत्रित होते है यह प्रह्लादजी के नेतृत्व और हार्दिकता का परिचय है।

प्रह्लादजी के जीवन में एक क्रांतिकारी, या कह सकते है एक खुराफाती अंश का दर्शन होता है - चाहे वो धरमदासी कबीरपंथ के महंतपद ग्रहण करना का निर्णय हो या २०१९ के लोकसभा चुनाव लड़ने का। समाज ने जो उनकी एक आदर्श छवि बनायी है उसकी कैद में रहना जैसे उनको नहीं भाया - उस छवि को दांव पे लगाने की अभयता, सतत अपने "आंखन देखे" सत्य के प्रयोग में प्रयत्नवान होना, सभ्य समाज जिसे "पराजय" कहता है उससे कैसे आँख मिलाना और कैसे उसे अपने प्रेम से निरस्त्र करना, इन सबके भेद खोलना शायद उन्होंने कबीरवाणी से ही सीखा हो ! उनके साथ संवाद करेंगे इस इतवार सुबह १० बजे (भारतीय समय)
