I offer a quote from Anthony de Mello that seems apropos:
“People mistakenly assume that their thinking is done by their head; it is actually done by the heart which first dictates the conclusion, then commands the head to provide the reasoning that will defend it.”
The balancing question (or quandry) came and went for much of my life. Now, at age 69, I almost never hear it. Seems to have answered itself.
