Emme excuses all murders. Everything she said about this mass murderer could apply to anyone whatsoever, including those who call for justice. We are all just victims of our upbringing. The man who kills your children did not really mean to hurt anyone. The most merciful thing we could do for him is to put him out of his miseries as soon a possible.
The 'subconscious' is a theory of knowledge. But it is a contradiction in terms. Consciousness is to be conscious. There is no subconscious running things. Sometimes a pencil is really only a pencil.
I do not accept the dualism that is reflected in this thought of being a slave to my mind.
Where is the 'I' in the statement 'you are a slave to your own mind'? Why does my mind then not do good rather than evil as is projected here? What is good? You say following your own desires is not good, why? Maybe the evil is to try to form the mind into something it is not.
Whatever the case, I am my mind, I am my body, I am my soul. I don't have these things (dualism), I am these things. I have been forgiven in Christ Jesus and can now do the good I want. This gives you freedom to act and be yourself. It assumes the you are created in the image of God, 'And it was very good'.
Inner meditation seems to me like watching smoke. Sleep is a better technique. There is no transcendent state in reality, save the transcendent idealism of Kant, and he disliked being called an idealist. But pure reason seems to be what he was pointing to as being transcentdent. Reality is the object of experience. Unless, of course, your suppressed premise is that there is really a supernatural world more real than the natural world, as in Platonic Ideal Forms.
