I'm in awe of the simplicity of this teaching. To improve oneself is to let the preconditioned mind be the judge of the quality of an experience or outcome. A state of living dominated by memory and anticipation. The present is merely a means to an end , a receipt for more suffering!
When I am fully present I become one with the experience. No separation between self and the experience!
Thank you for sharing this inspiring writing. The point about scarcity mentality is worth meditating on. In our post industrialized society of material abundance vast majority of fellow humans still fight for the basics. How do we account for this? Why do we continue to accumulate more to "secure our future" when millions suffer "now". This is a large scale example of "mind over heart" divide the author points to. Somehow all of us well meaning spiritual seekers continue to live with this conflict. Why?
The line "A gardener sees the world as a system of interdependent parts" pretty much sums up the whole passage succinctly. Successful application of this enlightened worldview to competitive, profit centric business environment is uplifting and hopeful. Heartening to see that business and spirituality don't need to be at odds, but can operate in perfect harmony!
Truly inspiring passage. Seek to understand first, then to be understood. Know all mental positions including "objective values" are ego's need to preserve itself by amplifying the differences between us. The event of shared identity the author experienced points to a rare but life changing moment of awakening that creates the Space for everyone to fulfill their life's purpose - evolve.
