Our Forest Call guest this week will be:
Bill Stewart, a modern-day medicine man.
Dr. Stewart's journey spans the bone-chilling winters of his native Minnesota, San Francisco's patchwork of fog and sunshine, the blistering summers of southern India -- and more. He is a man of multiple gifts; a nationally celebrated oculoplastic surgeon, a dedicated global volunteer, and a passionate leader of the Integrative Medicine movement. He co-founded the Cal-Pacific Medical Center's renowned
Institute for Health and Healing whose work now touches over 50,000 people each year, at a time when it meant swimming hard and upstream against the traditional medical establishment. His nickname during those days was "Dr. Om." :) His personal experiences have contributed to a profound perspective on the cycles of life and the principles and practices of mindful living, holistic health, lifestyle choices and life goals. He is author of the beautiful book "
Deep Medicine: Harnessing the Source of Your Healing Power". Dr. Stewart is also a longtime student of yoga, and his three beautiful grandchildren.
This Saturday, Dr. Stewart will share how his journey led him to believe that, "Health and healing are not just scientific, but also spiritual pursuits." It was a process that included decades of studying with the remarkable cultural anthropologist and teacher
Angeles Arrien, his close interactions with the exquisite Celtic poet-mystic
John O'Donohue, and his service alongside the visionary
Dr. V and the Aravind Eye Care System in India.
If you'd like to join the call, please RSVP and you'll be emailed the call-in information as we get closer to the date of the call.
